CAP unit helps with NDA telethon

White Marsh Squadron (MD) – The squadron assisted the Muscular Dystrophy Association in preparing some 130,000 envelopes for the MDA Telethon, held Labor Day weekend at the WMAT-TV studios.

The squadron assisted by Gray Manor, Towson, Glenn L. Martin, and Reisterstown squadrons started this massive project on Aug. 15 during its regular Wednesday evening meeting. As Pat Arnold, of MDA, told Goodman, Commander, “This is the first time we have ever done this. What you are doing will save a lot of time during the Telethon. We really appreciate the help the Civil Air Patrol is giving us.”

“We have always assisted MDA in the past, but this was a major endeavor”, stated CPT Goodman. “We could not handle it ourselves, so we called on our neighboring squadrons who responded magnificently. Also, the Maryland State Game and Fish Protective Association were a big help in lending us the use of their facilities for the project.”
